Essential Mountain Routes in the Pyrenees
The Gorges of Escuain in the National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido
The path of the viewpoints of Revilla is an ideal route to travel with children for its little difficulty and duration (4.5 km and less than two hours) and because it offers many stimuli: birds, forests, ruins, etc. It is one of the best areas of Europe to see bearded vultures.
We started the route on the road that leads to Revilla, about 300 meters before reaching the village, at a signpost where we find information panels. We will walk along the path that leads us, among oaks and trees, to the rock chapel of San Lorenzo and the viewpoints of Angones, where we will find fascinating views of the Yaga Canyon and the Gorges of Escuain.
The Route of the Three Refuges in the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park
We now make a radical change with this route in the region of Ribagorza (Aragon) for the real lovers of the mountain. We will walk its 49 km in three stages of about 6-8 hours of daily road. The paths are well signposted and run around the Posets massif, which at 3369 m is the second peak of the Pyrenees.
We will know all the faces of this majestic mountain, and we will pass by the refuges of Estos, Biados and Angel Orus, where we will be able to spend the night. We will visit emblematic valleys like those of Anes Cruzes, Llardaneta, and Ribereta.
The route starts and finishes in Estos (Benarque), and it is possible to certify our effort with the electronic chip that they give to the hikers. A demanding route, but with which we will enjoy scenes of great diversity and beauty, as well as a single night sky.
Mont-Rebei Gorge in the Sierra De Montsec
This famous route has medium difficulty and about 9 km long. To cross it we will leave the parking lot and rest area of the Masieta, where we will take the road that will lead us to discover the incredible views of the Mont-Rebei gorge.
First, we will arrive at the ravine of Sant Jaume and, after crossing it, the most spectacular part of the route begins, that circulates between holm oaks and shrubs by paths excavated in the rock, hanging bridges and caves.
The road is dangerous in some stretches, so be careful. The views are spectacular, grandiose and vertiginous. A hiking trail only suitable for the more daring.
